Just a few days back we had brought you the news that the Chopras are in the process of a major overhaul of their production house, Yash Raj Films, and are on a signing spree of stars and directors whose films have done well at the box office in the last years. We've learnt that they've roped in 'Chak De! India' director, Shimit Amin, for their next venture. And the interesting bit, according to sources, is that this film will bring two young stars – Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor – together for the very first time on-screen.
A well-placed source told us, "Shimit will be directing the next Yash Raj film. This film will have both Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor in pivotal roles. Both youth icons are pretty happy about the fact that they will be working together and under the YRF banner, plus with an acclaimed director like Shimit Amin. The Chopras do not want to take any chances at this juncture; hence they've chosen someone like Shimit who had given them a big hit (in 2007) at a time when all their films were flopping." When contacted, Shimit Amin agreed that he has been signed on by Yash Raj. "Yes. In fact, I'm doing three films with them," he said. But when asked if it's true that the one, which is to start, soon will see Imran and Ranbir coming together, Shimit refused to divulge details. "I'm not in a position to disclose anything to you right now. All I can confirm is that this will be my second film with YRF after 'Chak De! India'," he said. The Chopras were not reachable for their comments.
